The #ArtyProject: Update 3

The Arty Project

It has been soooooo long since my last update – I really apologise to everyone for such a quiet couple of weeks. It’s been too stressful at home and I just haven’t been able to get around to blogging. I did book a couple of days off to go Cornwall which I will be posting about shortly.

So just to recap for everyone who has forgotten, The #ArtyProject was initially set up by two beauty bloggers who had a passion for art and felt like they wanted to get back into their “creative mode” and do something wonderful whilst including others within the blogging community. Take a look below for links to other members who are taking part in this wonderful project.

Where I am now?

The project is almost approaching the end and I think I started off so well but a little lost now, especially where I have been away from my computer and away from my sketch book. I don’t have much to show for this update unfortunately but have been playing around with tweaking images. The modified images represent how I would like to look as opposed to how I actually look.

I am very interested in plastic surgery and would consider going under the knife to look ‘more beautiful’. However, despite the desire to have plastic surgery, I wouldn’t like to have extreme plastic surgery where the surgery completely alters my face. I am still a big fan of the natural look and think that have surgery to enhance my look is not a bad thing IMO.

Here’s an image I have been working on recently. I don’t have fancy software or PhotoShop so please excuse the “rawnwss” of the edited image 🙂 I quite like it – it looks quite quirky and looks like it could’ve been a collage of my face (you all know how much I love collages right?!)

The Greenwich Mummy | ArtyProject Update 3

How I look Vs How I want to look...

As you can see, I made the eyebrows thicker and more arched, and my eyes are larger than normal. I have also made my nose smaller and thinner around the nostril area as I think a narrow higher nose is very attractive. I elongated my face by giving me a smaller and slightly longer chin to change the face shape from oblong to oval. Fuller lips are all the craze at the moment; just look at Kylie Jenner’s lips – they’re the talk of the town at the moment, and before her it was the likes of Angelina Jolie, Jessica Alba, Jessica Biel, etc. I am not “obsessed” enough to even think about doing that silly Kylie Jenner shot-glass suction thing that I keep seeing everywhere on Instagram… I will leave that to others.

Most of these features are supposed to be desirable in Asian cultures. Within my own family, many of these features have been drummed into my brain as symbols of beauty so it’s what I personally see as beautiful and by having the features would mean that I am beautiful too.

As I was creating this image, I noticed that when I made just the lips fuller, everything else looked so out of proportion however once I started tweaking the nose and everything else, it looked a bit better. Although, the longer I stare at the altered image, the more I realise how distorted my face looks and weirdly out of proportion it is… I also can’t help thinking that my altered face really looks like how Kylie Jenner looks (i.e. larger eyes, fuller lips) – is it just me or can you see the resemblance too? I’m going to try and do another update with more images of my work before the final piece is due (approx next week!).
