Share Your World 2016: Week 28

In response to Cee’s Share Your World 2016 | Week 28

What is your earliest memory?

**update**
After replying to Cee and Joseph, I’ve just remembered an even earlier memory. I was 3 and a half and I was in the car with my dad parked outside Greenwich hospital waiting for my little sister being born. I just about remember asking why we were there and dad said mum was having a baby. That’s all that I remember. However the most vivid memory is the one below.

I think my earliest memory is when I was about four years old – it wasn’t a happy memory either as it was the time when my mum and dad split up. I still remember the day so vividly and the emotions that came with it.

Mum and dad were arguing then she opened the door and kicked him out. I remember dad saying to me “don’t worry, it’s okay” and I was crying so much. I can still hear mum in the background shouting “if you care so much about your dad then leave with him” – I did and never, ever looked back.

I resented my mum growing up but I’ve forgiven her for that day since I got older… However, I will never forget.

What was the last photo you took with your phone?

I always have my iPhone with me and so naturally, I’m always taking candid photos. The last photo I took was from our Sunday day out to Mycenae House in Blackheath.

Have you ever danced in the rain?

Yes of course! Who hasn’t?! Mind you, I only did it as a child. It’s on of my fondest memories of primary school. Half of the school was wet and raining, the other was dry and sunny. I danced in the rain for a minute or two before the teachers told me to get inside.

What is the longest you have gone without sleep?

Pulling those all-nighters to get that last-minute assignment finished for the morning. After this it would be those late night clubbing days. There was one time we partied until 6am, slept for 3 hours then went back out for another party. The stresses I put my body through back then!

Bonus question: What are you grateful for from last week, and what are you looking forward to in the week coming up?

I am grateful for the lovely sunny intervals we’ve had weather-wise last week. I was able to take the kids out to the Blackheath Foodies Festival and the Mycenae House fun day.

This week coming up I’m looking forward to my mum and baby pilates class on Wednesday and friend’s birthday party on Saturday!

    1. It’s a very sad first memory but there are also some other good memories.. Now come to think of it I remember the car journey to the hospital on the day my little sister was being born. I think this actually a year before mum and dad’s separation! So that’s actually my first memory – didn’t come to mind until now as the separation was so ingrained into my brain!

Great set of questions this week tho – thank you Cee and Emilio

  2. Yours is a tough first memory. Great answers though and it looks like the foodie festival was a blast.

    1. Thank you Joseph! The foodies festival was great and the fun day on Sunday was brilliant too! I just said below to Cee that now thinking harder, the car journey to the hospital with dad on the day my sister was born is my first memory I think – it’s sketchy as I only remember the car journey for some weird reason. I was about 3 and a half then. This was around a year before my parent’s separation. 🙂
