October: It’s Been Manic!

What can I say?! Manic is probably an understatement… it’s more like chaotic but hey, I guess that’s the life of a mummy.

I only work part-time but last month, I have started my voluntary role as a Beanstalk helper again. The reading sessions with the children are now better than ever! The girls have gotten so much more confident in reading and I think they love it which is good. I also had my review at the last reading session and have been given great feedback by my volunteer support worker which means so much! It’s so good to know that I am doing well and doing what I should be doing to help the children… Feelings of warmth and fuzziness arise in me when I know that I’m doing something good. 🙂

My little tyrant had also started his new nursery mid-September and the settling period was pretty good before he went backwards. He’s all good now though, I can officially leave LO at nursery and even say goodbye without having to think “will he cry? Will he not? Should I sneak out or stay a little longer?!” – it’s great. He’s having so much fun and making friends already.

School’s half-term is now here and I’ve got somewhere in mind but I will have to see how it goes, weather permitting. It’s to visit the wonderful Discover Children’s Centre in Stratford have opened their new exhibition: Michael Rosen’s Bear Hunt, Chocolate Cake & Bad Things. It’s an exhibition based on Rosen’s books that will display a super-large chocolate, bear hunt and other wonderful things the story builders have set up for children to discover. LO’s nursery is actually doing a trip there in December but I love the centre’s exhibition so will have to see it before then. We first went there to see the “Once there was… an Oliver Jeffers exhibition” which I posted about a while back. You can read my review here. Tickets are £5 per adult/child (under 2s go free) and you can get a family ticket for £18 (2 adults, 2 children) to save money.

I’ve been dying to try out the Plumtree Cafe in Greenwich but have not been motivated enough to go so will need to add that to my to-do list. Daddy P and I have also decided that we wanted to take LO to see PAN in cinemas. It looks amazing and LO really loves all that action and adventure – I will let you know how it went next week. 🙂
