Join in the #ArtyProject and reconnect with your inner artist

It’s been soo long since I’ve last created anything artistic – the closest thing to creativity that I have done so far is my blogging which is kind of saddening in a way. I’ve been having this feeling for the past months and I’ve had numerous discussions with an old art colleague who said she also felt the same. Then, a couple of days ago I came across a tweet by Maryam calling for others to join in this new and exciting project so I had to check out her blog.

After reading the brief, I decided to take part and sent my email to Maryam who contacted Zoe on my behalf and voila – here we are! The girls have also started a Whatsapp Community so all of the bloggers can chat, share ideas and encourage each other to persevere, or in my case, to start on our project! 🙂

So what is the #ArtyProject?

It’s the brainchild of bloggers, Zoe and Vicky. Every 2 months a theme is chosen and at the end of it all, the blogger gets a chance to show off their final piece by blogging about it (remember to use the hashtag #ArtyProject). Every two weeks, a “progress report” should be uploaded so everyone can see we’re doing and encourage each other along if we’re feeling stuck. The progress update can be anything from a sketchbook idea, research, or actually sneak preview of the final piece. In terms of medium, there are no restrictions in terms what to use so it’s completely free reign (woop woop!). The first final piece is due around June 3rd 2015 – so exciting!

Who can join in?

Anyone can join in! You don’t have to be an artist, or have an artistic background. As long as you want to do something creative you can participate – it’s supposed to be a fun thing so there is no right or wrong way to be creative. What is the theme?

As the majority of us bloggers are from a beauty background, it would only be natural to mark the start of something wonderful around/on ‘Beauty’… How we decide to interpret it is completely up to us so I think we will have some really mixed pieces and varied ideas. 🙂

My Idea?

So after a bit of mind-mapping last night (my creativity usually comes to me in the early hours of the morning) I have found something that I would love to do my project on but I am not going to restrict myself. Instead, I will allow my ideas to blossom as I go through the project and simply just refine it and gently direct it along. Most of the research and ideas will be on paper; I will be using mixed media so expect to see drawings, paintings, collages and photography (camera and digital) in the mix.
